The Planning Assistance Resource Team

In 2013, the North Carolina chapter of the American Planning Association (NCAPA) initiated the Planning Assistance Resource Team (PART). PART is a program where planners and allied professionals volunteer their time and expertise to groups in North Carolina. The intent of this program is to address specific questions or provide visionary context to a phase of a planning project in a community. The program is not intended to compete with the professional interests of planning consultants, and should be an additional resource to the project team. Neither is the program designed to complete a planning project, but rather to focus on a specific problem statement or stage of the planning process.

A PART team will be composed of qualified professionals, led by a certified planner (AICP, preferably a fellow of the program) and active member of NCAPA. PART team members may also be retired professionals, as long as they are also active members of NCAPA. Sponsors may include local or tribal governments, development associations, non-profit agencies, or local or regional councils or departments.
