GovTempsUSA is accepting resumes from qualified candidates for the estimated six – twelve month interim position of Assistant Director of Development Services for the City of Fayetteville located in the Sandhills Region of North Carolina. The successful candidate will join a team committed to the continued transformation and modernization of North Carolina’s sixth largest city.

The interim Assistant Development Services Director will work with the Development Services team to manage the daily responsibilities for permitting, inspections, and code enforcement and compliance activities. The successful candidate will join a team committed to the continued transformation and modernization of North Carolina’s sixth largest city.

Selected candidate will earn a competitive hourly rate and be an employee of GovTempsUSA with services contracted to the City. Benefits include up to 3% employer matched IRA.

Job Candidate Qualifications

Successful candidate will have a commitment to teamwork and professionalism, outstanding supervisory, budgeting, and administrative skills and highly developed communication and listening skills.  A demonstrated record of successfully managing and completing complex projects and assignments is expected along with a commitment to the shared interests of the entire community and high quality customer service and accountability.

Successful candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in land use planning, public administration, business management or a related field with a Master’s degree preferred; ten years of progressively responsible work in development services, planning/zoning, inspections, permitting, and code compliance with five years of administrative and supervisory responsibility required.  Experience with permit tracking software helpful.
