The Town Of Knightdale, North Carolina is seeking a dedicated professional to serve in the position of code enforcement officer/planner. Conveniently located just 9 miles from downtown Raleigh at the juncture of interstates 540 and 495, Knightdale is a well-established and rapidly growing progressive community with the youngest median age in North Carolina’s capital county. Knightdale has a population just at 17,000, an annual operating budget of $17.2 million and 89 full-time employees across eight departments. Knightdale is well known as one of the fastest-growing communities in the Triangle metro region and is one of the safest municipalities in the state. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the development services director to enforce the town’s code of ordinances, unified development ordinance and NC building code relating to land use, zoning, minimum housing, and nuisances. This position also assists with municipal planning, zoning, and development functions as necessary.

The anticipated starting salary range is $43,572-$48,131, depending on qualifications, with excellent benefits including employer-provided health insurance and a five percent 401k contribution.

Job Candidate Qualifications


Four-year degree in business, city/urban planning, geography, construction management, criminal justice or related field. The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience in law enforcement, code enforcement, building inspections, urban planning, geography, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Certification as a North Carolina zoning official (CZO) preferred.
