Job Details / Description

This position performs field inspections to verify compliance with Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision Ordinance and Code of Ordinances regulations and provides guidance and aid to citizens, contractors, developers and other professionals to achieve compliance with applicable regulations. The position will also review and approve residential and other permits for compliance with applicable ordinances. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Planning Director or their designee.Salary Range: $42,681.94 to $55,273.12 (midpoint)

Job Candidate Qualifications

Minimum Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with coursework in planning, or related field.
  • At least one year of work experience involving a high level of public contact including some experience interacting with the public in an enforcement, inspection, investigation or customer service capacity and the interpretation and application of statutes, codes and ordinances. Experience in the enforcement of local government codes is highly desirable.
  • Certified Zoning Official (CZO) certification is preferred.

Special Requirements
Possession of an appropriate driver’s license valid in the State of North Carolina.
