Job Details / Description

  • Assists with the administration and enforcement of the Town’s zoning ordinance
  • Supports in the development of new and updated plans, programs, and zoning regulations
  • Reviews development proposals and site plans for conformance with the Town’s ordinances, plans, and regulations
  • Conducts field inspections of development sites
  • Receives, investigates, and responds to public inquiries, requests for information, and complaints regarding the Town’s zoning ordinance and land development regulations

Job Candidate Qualifications

  • Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, geography, architecture, public administration or a similar with at least two years’ experience in planning, zoning, land use, and land development work, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • A Master’s degree in the above-referenced fields may be used in lieu of the required minimum experience
  • Previous planning experience in the state of South Carolina is preferred
  • Must have knowledge of state laws governing land development, zoning, and comprehensive planning
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Candidates must be able to pass a drug screening and thorough background check
