This is an exciting time to join our team, as there are many planning projects underway including, drafting a new Unified Development Ordinance, non-motorized transportation planning, updating the plan review process and software, and integrating GIS for both long-range and current planning efforts.

Description:
This position performs responsible professional work handling a variety of research on planning projects, deed and land-use as well as preparing maps and files. The candidate will participate in the day to day operations of the Planning Department; work on special projects along with researching policies or statistics of other localities and will assist with work on committees. The candidate will provide guidance to applicants, citizen committees, public agencies, or other in understanding impact regarding their land use issues, and other duties as assigned. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for the Department’s GIS mapping projects.

Salary Range:
$46,818-$73,221

Job Candidate Qualifications:

 

Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Planning or a related field and two years of planning or development experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience using GIS is preferred.

Special Requirements:
Thorough knowledge of ArcMap to create shapefiles and maps; ability to perform spatial analysis using ERSI tools. Valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
