The City-County Planning Board of Forsyth County and Winston-Salem NC seeks a talented and creative individual for a planner position focusing on Development Review. Winston-Salem is a vibrant and dynamic community with a rich industrial history. Many of the former industrial buildings are being revitalized for medical research and education, technology, and urban residential uses.
Responsibilities of the position will include providing information and assistance on zoning, the rezoning process and the electronic site plan submittal and review system to customers and staff. The person in this position prepares reports on zoning cases and text amendments for Planning Board consideration; works in a team environment with other staff, citizens and public officials on planning projects; and presents reports, analyses, and recommendations to citizens and public officials.

Experience in site plan review, mapping, and spatial-based applications desired; requires a customer service orientation and the ability to communicate complex information to citizens, developers and real estate professionals in a concise and understandable manner. Applicants should have the ability to use computers and other technology in analysis and presentation of information; the ability to present oral and written information clearly and concisely; and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with professional colleagues and representatives of other public agencies.

Salary $47,799.94

Job Candidate Qualifications

Seeking candidate with a Master’s degree in planning or a related field or a bachelor’s degree with two years of planning experience.
