The Village of Clemmons (pop. 20,420) located in western Forsyth County seeks a Planning and Community Development Director to serve a growing, prosperous, suburban community that has active community involvement. The Village operates as a limited-service community and the position reports directly to the Village Manager. The ideal candidate will be an experienced, high-energy leader with strong interpersonal skills who is committed to delivering exceptional customer service to internal and external customers by developing effective interpersonal relationships, being open-minded and considerate of different perspectives, demonstrate flexibility and willingness to adapt and accommodate others, demonstrate confidence and instill the trust of others, show a commitment to continuous improvement, and demonstrate sound independent judgement. The position staffs the Planning Board, transportation and technical review committees, provides support for the Village Council and Zoning Board of Adjustments, manages the part-time Farmers Market and code enforcement staff and is the contact person for the community garden. The ideal candidate should have well-rounded planning experience, thrive in a small-staff environment that manages multiple projects, and have excellent time management and customer service skills. The role manages current/long-range planning, transportation planning, grant administration and special projects as assigned by the Manager. The Village contracts with Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Planning and Inspections to handle zoning and building permits/code enforcement. Job Candidate Qualifications

Graduation from a college or university with a degree in planning, public administration, or related field and preferably with a master’s degree and considerable professional experience in municipal administration and planning; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. AICP certification or the ability to obtain is preferred.
