The Village of Pinehurst seeks a Planning & Inspections Director who will work closely with the Assistant Village Manager for Administration, the Senior Leadership Team, and staff to plan, organize, and lead a department responsible for planning, zoning, and development within the Village’s planning jurisdiction. As an integral member of the Senior Leadership Team, this position will advise management, boards and commissions, and the Village Council on development, land use planning, and historic district preservation to help ensure the Village accomplishes its strategic goals and objectives. Supervising a staff of seven, this position also oversees code compliance and building inspections services.
The Planning & Inspections Director is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing a variety of plans related to the growth, development, and redevelopment of the Village such as the Comprehensive Long-Range Plan, New Core Master Plan, and other long range plans. Working closely with and advising the Planning & Zoning Board and the Historic Preservation Commission, this position oversees the interpretation and administration of the Pinehurst Development Ordinance and Historic District Guidelines. This position works directly with developers in the review of plans and coordinates the technical review of all non-residential development in the Village in conjunction with two Senior Planners to ensure all development complies with Village regulations.
The salary range for this position is $70,151 to $105,226. The Village also offers a competitive benefits package.
Job Candidate Qualifications
Graduation from a four-year university with a degree in planning or related field, with Master’s degree preferred; Extensive professional experience in public sector planning with considerable supervisory and administrative experience required.
AICP and Certified Zoning Official (CZO) certifications are required within 12 months of employment. Residency within the Village limits is also required.
