The Planning Associate will complete all local zoning and community engagement tasks associated with the company’s renewable energy project development activities.  The position requires an individual who is self-motivated with a strong work ethic and the discipline to work independently.

A qualified candidate must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in both verbal and written formats and be willing to travel throughout the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. The ability to move quickly between tasks and manage a wide variety of responsibilities each day is essential to success in this position.

Job Candidate Qualifications

Experience with planning regulation at the local government level a must.

Ability to develop, manage and execute an annual work plan, create timelines to keep team on track to make quarterly and annual goals

Excellent research skills with a focus on the ability to evaluate local, state and federal regulatory parameters.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in verbal and written form with multiple audiences.

Collection of primary data and the creation of datasets.

Collaboration with private and public sector entities to maintain development goals and timelines.

Preparation of written material for client or agency consumption.

Proficiency with MS Office and Adobe Acrobat.

Proficiency with ArcMap or other ESRI programs.

An understanding of environmental regulations and due diligence related to site development and experience or knowledge of the renewable energy and historic preservation industries is preferred but not required.


A High School Diploma and prior work experience is required. Formal education in environment, planning, sustainability, geography, or other related discipline is preferred. Work experience in lieu of education beyond high school will be considered.
