The successful candidate will be a strong leader with excellent customer service skills, directing the work of staff responsible for development, planning, zoning code enforcement, nuisance and minimum housing code enforcement, and other related programs for the Town. Work involves providing guidance for the orderly long-range growth and current development of the Town and supervising staff in conducting studies, enforcement of zoning and related codes, planning, development review, design projects, and grants management and administration. The right candidate will perform complex managerial, administrative and professional work in planning, organizing, directing and supervising the department. This position reports to the Economic and Community Development Director and is a key member of the management team.

Job Candidate Qualifications
The Planning Director position requires a master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Urban or Regional Planning or closely related field and considerable professional and management experience in urban planning; or a bachelor’s degree with an equivalent combination of education and experience. AICP certification preferred.
