GovTempsUSA is accepting resumes from qualified candidates for the estimated six – twelve month interim position of Planning Manager for the City of Fayetteville located in the Sandhills Region of North Carolina. The successful candidate will join a team committed to the continued transformation and modernization of North Carolina’s sixth largest city.

The interim Planning Manager will work with the planning and zoning team to manage the daily responsibilities for planning and zoning tasks, functions and activities, directing all programs, communications, services and use of resources. Will direct and manage special assignments with other City departments, public and regulatory officials and City Council. The successful candidate will join a team committed to the continued transformation and modernization of North Carolina’s sixth largest city.

Successful candidate will have a commitment to teamwork and professionalism, outstanding supervisory, budgeting, and administrative skills and highly developed communication and listening skills.  A demonstrated record of successfully managing and completing complex projects and assignments is expected along with a commitment to the shared interests of the entire community.

Selected candidate will earn a competitive hourly rate and be an employee of GovTempsUSA with services contracted to the City. Benefits include up to 3% employer matched IRA.

Job Candidate Qualifications

Successful candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in planning, urban design, public administration, business management or a related field with a Master’s degree preferred; five years of progressively responsible work in municipal current and long-range planning, zoning and development, with five years of administrative and supervisory responsibility required.
