The Town of Wake Forest seeks an energetic and team oriented individual for the position of Senior Planner in Development Services. The Development Services Division is responsible for review of all development applications; making administrative decisions; preparing staff reports and presentations for the Planning Board and Board of Commissioners; and zoning compliance. Common development reviews that the Senior Planner will manage includes rezonings, subdivision plans, site plans, architectural reviews, construction plans, plats, and other related document review.  This position would work closely with other departments on plan review; project oversight; and final site inspections. The Town is currently switching to all electronic plan review through IDT and Bluebeam, training would be provided for the successful candidate. Work requires independent judgment; the ability to develop solutions to problems; conflict resolution; negotiation skills; excellent presentation skills; and the ability to perform interpretation of ordinances, laws, etc. Work includes considerable public contact with contractors, engineers, developers, and the general public and involves giving information, answering inquiries, and carrying out the Town ordinances in the areas of zoning, planning, and other land use policies. Frequent contact with the public while maintaining a high level of customer service and tact is required. Work is supervised by the Development Services Manager and is evaluated through conferences, review of assigned projects, and overall completion of assigned tasks.

Education and Experience: Graduation from a graduate program or four-year college or university with a major in planning, public administration, geography, landscaping, or related field with considerable professional planning experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. AICP certification is preferred.

Hours of work: Monday- Friday, 8:00am- 5:00pm with night meetings to be expected.  The Town offers an excellent benefits package.
