Lancaster County, South Carolina is one of the fastest growing counties in South Carolina and the Charlotte, NC Metropolitan region. The Planning Department is seeking a Senior Planner who is adept at working in a very dynamic environment that includes both urban and rural planning elements.

The Senior Planner will be responsible for conducting technical reviews of development plans, in addition to other planning activities including, but not limited to, preparation of staff reports, assisting with comprehensive plan updates, and preparing Unified Development Ordinance updates. This position will also work with various boards and commissions and may serve as the staff liaison, as needed. Significant experience in the review of complex subdivision and site plan projects and Unified Development Ordinance administration is required. Knowledge of GIS and the ability to produce maps and graphic/statistical information is preferred.

Job Candidate Qualifications

Desirable Training and Experience:

Qualified candidates should possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Geography, or related field and have a minimum five years of experience as a Planner; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Suite is required. AICP certification is preferred.
