Job Details / Description
Support selected planning efforts, performing and assisting in professional planning work. Review subdivision plans, zoning petitions, and site plans. Prepare and present presentations and reports to the Planning Board, Board of Adjustments, and other public bodies. Travel to project sites and conduct inspections for compliance with County ordinances. Manage project schedules and perform other work supporting departmental operations.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies: Ability to read site plans and subdivision plats, public speaking before boards and committees, ability to educate and negotiate with the general public and land use attorneys, ability to understand spatial relations and very good communication skills (verbal, writing). Ability to multi-task essential.
Salary Minimum $50,440
Salary Maximum $90,792
Expected Hiring Range $50,440 – $70,616
Job Candidate Qualifications
Minimum Requirements Master’s degree in Planning, Landscape Architecture or related field and two years of experience in planning.
Bachelors in Planning, Landscape Architecture or related field and four years of experience in planning.
A valid driver’s license and a “safe” driving record required.
Preferred Experience, Skills and Training (beyond the minimum requirements defined by the class): Five plus years of public sector experience in rapidly developing locality(ies); competency with GIS applications and familiarity with quasi-judicial proceedings; AICP, NCCZO licensure
