About our opportunity:
The City of Asheville’s Transit Division of the Transportation Department is seeking a full-time Grants Coordinator. The purpose of this position is to provide professional support and ongoing management of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) grants and any other grants of the Transit Division.
Under direction of the Transit Planning Manager, the Grant Coordinator will coordinate internally with various departments, sub-recipients, and the Metropolitan Planning Organization. The Grant Coordinator is responsible for preparing grant funding applications and proposals for Federal, State, and other non-government grants to support various aspects of Asheville’s transit operations. The Grants Coordinator will manage all details of the pre- and post-award grant administration for both City of Asheville transit and sub-recipients of grants. Sub-recipients include four counties within the region for which the City provides administrative services and oversight.
The Grant Coordinator is responsible for tracking grant expenditures and draw downs, ensuring that all policies are followed, managing and maintaining documents for grant administration and accountability, applying for grants through FTA and the State, directing and providing oversight of grants to subrecipients (including performing site visits), collaborates with the City of Asheville Finance Department to ensure proper accounting and documentation for auditing and reporting purposes (e.g. National Transit Database reporting and Comprehensive Annual Financial Report), leads the FTA Triennial Review process, and assists division staff with procurement of transit-related purchases per FTA guidelines and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) requirements.
Typical work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (37.5 hours per week).
Salary: $21.95 – $26.34 Hourly
Job Candidate Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Grant Management, Finance, Project Management or a related field, with at least three (3) years of progressively responsible related experience; OR Associate’s degree in a related field, with at least (5) years of progressively responsible related experience; OR a High School Diploma or equivalent with at least (8) eight years of progressively responsible related experience.
FTA Program experience. (Preferred)
Experience with Google Suite, with an exceptional ability in the use of Google Sheets. (Preferred)
Transit Awards Management System (TRAMS) experience. (Preferred)
