Job Details / Description

The Transportation Planning Intern is expected to assist with data collection and analysis activities associated with development of the Metropolitan Transportation Plan and Transportation Improvement Plan. The Intern will collect, enter, tabulate and analyze various data; prepare meeting minutes and staff reports; assist with the preparation of presentations and stakeholder engagement activities; and assist with content development and maintenance of the BGMPO website. Additional duties include attending staff meetings, internal/public meeting setup and breakdown, and completing other administrative duties as assigned. The Intern will gain insight and experience in the daily operations of a regional planning organization.

Job Candidate Qualifications

Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Graduate level student from an accredited institution with major coursework in Business, Urban Planning, Geography or Transportation Planning.
Minimum GPA of 2.5 on 4.0 scale.
Some work and/or classroom experience in the selected area. Prospective candidates should have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google applications or social media platforms; excellent written and oral communication skills; work independently in a professional environment; and the ability and desire to learn new skills. The ideal candidate should have knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS, MetroQuest, or TransCad software programs. A valid driver’s license and a personal vehicle is required. The Transportation Intern will be reimbursed for business mileage.
