American Planning Association
North Carolina Chapter
Given that much of the work of planners and planning officials is directly affected by state laws, APA-NC maintains an active presence at the state Capitol in Raleigh. The Chapter’s Legislative Committee serves as our primary vehicle for influencing land use legislation by monitoring bills related to planning and land use and works directly with the APA-NC lobbyist to advocate the Chapter’s position on such proposals. In addition, the committee initiates legislation to improve the planning and development processes in North Carolina. Through these efforts, committee members are able to participate in determining APA-NC’s position on critical legislation affecting planning in North Carolina.
